Gorsgoch, Llanboidy

Postby julian1952 » Thu Nov 01, 2012 5:23 pm

Can anyone help me please with a query?
I'm researching a Victorian soldier, Thomas Evans, who fought in the Zulu War and was one of the defenders of Rorke's Drift 1879. His birth was registered in the 1850s as being in Gorsgoch, Llanboidy. I've searched modern and contemporary Ordnance Survey maps and trade directories of farms/businesses from the 1860s-80s and I am unable to find Gorsgoch as a hamlet or farm anywhere in the neighbourhood. I can only assume that it was the name of a house. Does anyone know at all?
Many thanks
